New legislation is being sought for unwed fathers seeking custody in the face of adoption proceedings. The case spawning the call for legislation is a Lawrenceville teen father who has been unable to take custody of his infant son after he was placed with an adoption agency by the mother. The legal rights of fathers in this situation had yet to be established in Georgia.
Khyber grandparents rights case pending

In what is expected to be a precedent-setting case in Georgia, the case of the parental grandparents who have filed for visitation rights following the parents' loss of custody is expected to be decided next month. This may establish legal guidelines for grandparent visitation rights when parental rights have already been terminated.
